Remember this is a job that has to be done by the ladies, as whoever mouths those famous words, "I name this ship..."
Who know why it is always a lady to do this job?
I think I know but what do you say ?

RACKING MY BRAIN WITH HELP FROM PC ..WAS IT .. something to do with the fact that it was always a male member of royal family , then the first lady to do it missed the ship and injured a spectator , so now they dont actually throw the bottle at the ship , so now its more tradition for ladies to do the christening ..

The sole role of the Female (godmother) is to bring good luck to the ship and all who sail her. A bit better than the vikings who did it with human sacrificeseeksmieeksmi.

The directors of Cunard desired to name their ship after Queen Victoria.
They went to see HM King George V to ask him "if they could name their new ship after England's greatest Queen".
The King replied: "Yes of course, my wife would be delghted."
