Disney Cruise Line is to double in size from two to four ships by 2012.

The new vessels will be significantly larger at 124,000-tons with 1,250 cabins compared with the existing two 83,000-ton ships - Disney Magic and Disney Wonder - which each have 875 cabins.

The ships are to be built at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg and will be delivered in delivered in 2011 and 2012.

Meyer Werft entered into a contract with Disney Cruise Line in April to construct the two new vessels. The value has not been disclosed.
