Hi,
A question for the ladies - we're in the final stages of our packing for our cruise on Tuesday and DW has just asked me if her hair straighteners will work - I've just checked them and they only say 220V, does this mean that they won't heat up in the 110V system on the Navigator? Has anyone any experience of this. I may have to go out and get a new set tomorrow.
thanks
Niall

Hi Niall
if the straighteners are 220v they will work but will take a very long time to warm up .I dont know if you can buy them in england but in america we bought a 110v-220v convertor which was just a small transformer which just plugs into socket and you appliance plugs into convertor.

Hi Niall
Tell DW I took my GHD's on the Navigator in June and just used a standard travel adaptor and they worked just fine smilesmi They didnt seem to take any longer to heat up and worked well.

My DD and I both took ours on Island Star...which was originally a Celebrity ship thus 110v and so an adaptor needed. In my cabin as retep said they took a long time to heat.madsmi However my DD has exactly the same pair and she was in a cabin several doors away and hers worked with no problems!!foxes_279

Thanks for all your replies,
If it just means they'll take longer to heat up but they work ok once hot, that should be fine, although I may just have to go to Argos for some worldwide voltage ones in the morning, it would be a disaster if the straighteners didn't work.
thanks again

Straighteners are for DW - thats why I'll probably go out and get another set in the morning - if her original ones work I'll take the others back after the cruise!

I am assuming the straighteners were tried and tested this evening onboard NOS....have a great cruise. Happy straightening! foxes_279

Well I'm back from the Canaries now, and I can report that the straighteners worked fine! We bought an extra pair in case, but didn't need them as DWs usual ones worked fine - even heated up as fast as normal. Her straighteners are SCP ones which look similar to GHDs but were cheaper, in case anyone else wonders if they will work in the future.
The cruise was fantastic, and I'll do a review soon.
