For those of you who've recently been on Navigator, what kind of formal clothes did people wear?
DH and I love dressing up. He's taking two dinner jackets - a black one and a white one. I have several nice cocktail dresses, but also two beautiful evening gowns. I'd so like to take a long dress with me, but will I be the odd one out? I wore the gowns last year on HAL and felt like a million dollars - want to repeat the experience!

Lots of long evening gowns Starbright - with lovely wraps and jewellry. You shouldnt be the odd one out. I took two long outfits - one a dress, and one a long evening skirt with a top. Lots of chaps wearing DJs too...go for it!

I took three long evening dresses with wraps and my sparkly earrings and necklaces and DH took a tux. I am so glad we did, we dressed to the nines and thoroughly enjoyed it!!! Dress up and enjoy, lots of people did on the Nav in June...Wendylovescruising looked stunning in her evening dresses and her DH looked very smart wearing a tux too smilesmi

Hi Starbrite Having just got back from the Navigator on Sat. I can confirm what every one else has said about what to wear. Just go careful though if it is a trailing dress you are going to wear. I happened to accidentally tread on the trailing part of this womens dress. She nearly ended up dress-less 24smi. She saw the funny side to that, lucky for me phew.

Thanks for all the replies. I'm pleased to know everyone dressed up. I hate to read about these cruises (mainly in the Caribbean on US ships) where people say "no one bothered much with formal night". For us formal night is one of the highlights of a cruise.

I am not one for normally wearing suites and ties. But after the 1st time I must admit I quite enjoyed it. Hope you will too. Just go with the flow.

I saw a lady once in a fantastic evening trouser suit. It was a very masculine cut suit but she looked very feminine in it with wow jewellry. She really stood out from the crowd.....some women can wear anything cant they.
They just have that "thing"....not me unfortunately. I always look like I've been dragged through a bush.......and out the other side! crysmi Humph!

Wakie I bet you looked a million dollers that night. I dont seem to care what other people look like when they dress up. I know and feel good knowing that I have worked hard and can afford only what I can afford and feel good for that fact. In other words I am happy with who and what I am and how I look smilesmi smilesmi smilesmi

Hi ILI - I do try - not for anyone else but for my DH. Usually I am in my scruffs!!...so when we go on a cruise I make an effort foxes_279 I love dressing up....I was really pleased with my new evening outfit for this cruise. I do have a black dress which is SO comfortable I take it with me always....its very plain so I can dress it up with new jewellry etc.
DH and I have just agreed we both need to diet for our next cruise foxes_279 If I lose the weight I want to lose I shall treat myself to some new clothes smilesmi

Well I let people take me as they see me. I would not say I was not that much over weight 40 st 24smi24smi But I do look quite slim in strippy suites 24smi24smi. On a more serious note though I did not put on that much weight while cruising. I had salmon and smoked herring for breakfast most mornings, Only visited Johnny rockets twice and boy do they serve you huge portions I had to ask the waitress if she could give us a hand to eat it 24smi. For lunch just had very small portions of what ever we fancied so it did not blow us out then for dinner some times I have two starters two mains and deserts mind you not every night. I did not feel too guilty about ordering that amount of food because they do waste alot so better in me then in bin. Anyway got home on Sat weighrd myself and just gained a few extra pounds. That did supprise me. So working hard burning cals and now saving for the next trip

We didnt eat lunch very often - tended to have a big breakfast. I sometimes got us sandwiches to eat around the pool area - we enjoyed our evening meal so much we didnt want to spoil it foxes_279
DH loves his breakfasts though....he's like a man possessed at breakfast!!!24smi
