One thing I didnt like about my cruise was crossing the bay of biscay during rough seas. My DH suffers with motion sickness and I didnt think I would have any seasickness problems...but I did.

What didnt you like about a cruise?

Waking up and realising it was disembarkation day and i had to leave the ship crysmi.

I didnt like certain other passengers who were complaining just for the sake of it.

I would love to do one of the 14 day cruises from Southampton but the Bay of Biscay??? Don't want to spoil my record of never getting sick- that would really ruin a cruise.

I have been on 5 cruises and on 4 had to go threw the dreaded bay however on all 4 cruises had to pass throught the celtice sea and the weather there on two occasions was worse than the bay which was like a millpond as it was on the other two cruises and on one of these cruises the Seas in the med was worse we sailed through as storm lasting 22 hours. So give me the bay any day its just another stretch of water after all.

Last two cruises I have done self disembarkment- take your own suitcases down- much easier and faster- I could have been off the ship at 0645 if I wanted. As it was I was off at 7.20am
It just felt so much better not having to pack at dinnertime on the last night, that casts a shadow on the last evening..madsmi

On our first ever cruise in 1996 (it was only 4 nights in the Bahamas to see whether we would like cruising), the one formal dinner was followed by the themed dancing for the evening - a country and western hoedown. What was all that about?

A hoedown is a type of American folk dance or square dance in duple meter, and also the musical form associated with it. Some short cruise have a theam which you get more people who enjoy what is on offer.

Yes, but a hoedown in dj's & evening dresses? - just didn't fit together somehow!

Fred Olsen, aboard the Black Watch in May this year, not being able to cope with my wifes diet.
She must have a dairy free
diet,(no dairy products, milk, butter, cheese etc)
We explained this when booking: OK Sir no promlems we cope with this
Before travelling to to the ship: Phoned again , no promlem shiphas been informed
On embarkation, a nice note in our cabin, come to a meeting in the morning we will talk to everyone with a special diet, Great we thought, so off my wifes goes

Dinner first evening:Waiter knew nothing about this, did not have the Menu marked up; had to go the galley to ask the chef, came back with some funny answers: not always correct to my wifes finding out.
This went on for the rest of the cruise, every meal-time was a disaster,
breakfast,lunch.dinner:
we nearly got off, and flew home,
So no more dear Fred, was our first and last with Fred Olsen Line
can tell you more if you want to PM mesmilesmi

I always thought hoedown was what a gardener did at the end of his shift....24smi24smi24smi

I wish it was! I have a friend who delivers yachts and is always asking me to go as crew, but I won't do The Bay. It can be really dangerous; the best way to cross it is straight across, which most ships/boats do. The other problem is that radio contact is lost and I don't like that at all!eeksmi

The way you walk funny on dry land after being several days at sea. It was quite comical to sit and watch my travelling campanions sway as they walked along.
