If you are travelling North to Alaska from the US....I have read that one side of the ship is preferable to the other for viewing purposes - I am assuming starboard??????

We've booked an aft cabin for our Alaska trip for all round views.
They are also more sheltered so you get the best of both worlds.
However, if you want a side cabin I believe that I read that the port side is best for travelling north.

When I went I was on port and my friends were on starboard, I think you get a good view from both and the ships do weing around so both sides can see all, It seem that most people were on top to see all around.
you can see some photos on this site of mine.
