News from Chubbas......

Chubbas has just sent me a message that reads:

"We are on the ship but we have had a nightmare! There are CHILDREN on the ship!!!"

Apparently, Chubbas has thrown her toys out of the pram, which anyone would if guaranteed a Child Free ship to find it over-run with them.
Anyway, she has had a free upgrade to a suite and free excursions. So, they have decided to stay and make the best of it.
The ship even phoned the TA and they admitted that they had indeed guaranteed an Adult Only ship. So, because of this everyone is bending over backwards to do what they can.

That could only happen to Chubbas! giggle I've just looked in Thomson's brochure and it says that cruises in June and September are especially for adults! I suppose as it's 30th May today it doesn't apply .....or perhaps all the kids will be pushed overboard on Sunday? lolsmi lolsmi

The TA's genuine mistake meaning an upgrade to a suite plus free excursions sounds wonderful!!! I'm sure all the kids will be busy at the various clubs etc and I'm sure she'll have a fab time! whistelsm

Poor Chubbas...at least she got the upgrade. She was upgraded for free on Navigator!!! madsmi

Trust Chubbas to come out on top a few children after LIL Chubbas and Mason should be no problem lolsmi we've only once had an upgrade although we have one this year but paid a bit extra for it.No doubt you will be kept informed Michelle giggle

I didnt realise that there arent any balconies on this ship. I was just looking up the suites on Chubbas cruise to have a nose and apparently they dont have a balcony - which is a shame madsmi I know she would have liked that...

Well Im home and I survived a week of hell on earth lolsmi lolsmi (not really)!!!

I will write a full review over the weekend but am still fighting my way through the washing, the emails, the post etc etc....

Anyway, the starting version of events as follows: -

We got off the plane at Palma and made our way to the transfer bus. Happily climbed aboard and took our seats and heard "little people's" voices on the bus. Looked round and saw two children on the bus...our bus...the adults bus to the adults ONLY cruise!!!! DH said they were probably getting dropped at a hotel munchsm So I breathed in and breathed out and waited till the bus drove STRAIGHT to the docks. We got off, they got off, we got our cases, they got their cases...panic kicked in.

By now I was anxioulsy looking round for a rep and found one who turned out to be one of the entertainment team. I called him to one side and said, can you confirm that this is an "adults only" cruise? He said, NO...thats next weeks cruise not this one. Well at this point DH looked at my face and said, should I bother getting our cases or are we going home giggle

So....I sat on the side of the docks, smoking a fag and seething with anger DEMANDING to see a rep so that we could be transferred to a Gold (adults only) Hotel madsmi I was sooooo upset tearssm I had only booked this cruise as it was adults only (as sold to me by the TA). Anyway, we were persuaded to board the ship after about half an hour to discuss the situation with Reception who then asked me to have a meeting with the Charter Cruise Manager.

While we were waiting, we popped along to our cabin (outside cabin, deck 1) and luckily I had packed all my booking paperwork that showed the information that we were given by the TA. We took the paperwork with us for the meeting and left the cases on the floor PACKED in readiness to leave the ship.

Anyway, she was really lovely and contacted our TA by phone in the UK who confirmed that it looked like a genuine mistake had been made at their end. The CCM and UK TA both tried to get us into a Gold hotel in Majorca but sadly there was no room at the inn (or any of the inns) and the clock was ticking tearssm I asked if we could be flown home and be refunded and they said that it would be virtually impossible to get us back home that night.

The CCM was trying so hard to make it right (bless her) she asked us to please stay and give it a try. She promised faithfully that bad behaviour onboard would not be tolerated and offered us the free upgrade to a suite as a gesture of goodwill with some free excursions thrown in too.

Well what can I say, I have to eat a VERY LARGE portion of humble pie.....the ship, crew, food, entertainment and even the onboard "ankle biters" were fine. We had no problems at all with children onboard and I can honestly say this was our best cruise so far and I am soooo glad we stayed shy In fact, we made sure that we went and personally thanked all of the staff that helped us on day one and persuaded us to give it a try hugsmi
