Only been there once on the Crown Princess. We were docked on the river in the old part of the town below the famous hotel. ( cant remember it name but it looks like a French chateau) We walked up into the artists quarter via the cliffs the British soldiers climbed to do battle with the Frech. Its an easy walk if your able for the stairs. Never went into the city itself.
For a much better answer, go into cruisecritic and look under the ports of call.

I quite enjoyed that. I don't think there will be a shuttle. The ship docks right in the old town (well our did) and theres an escalator up into the artists quarter. It was a freezing cold day the day we were there and after our walk around the cliffs, down through the old part of the city where Churchills bust is, we had had enough. We were there in late September for the New England in the fall cruise but it was still too early as the leaves were still green.
I'll have a look at the Google map and see what I can remember.
