I managed to get hold of the Gran canarian tourist board who were very helpful...
If docked in Las Palmas get a number 30 bus which takes you down the coast to Playa Del Ingles (and other places) every 20 min during the week.
if you need to look up any other bus route go to the following, however it is in spanish...
but for 6 euros each way, I think thats a good deal..

Hi Mal
Gran Canaria is one of my most favourite holiday destinations EVER!! Puerto Rico is my favourite and we have been four times for land holidays happysm Lovely marina with fab restaurants and bars, we have never ventured into Playa Del Ingles as me and DH thought we might be too old blushredsm roflmao Maspolomas is supposed to be well worth a visit too.

The only reason I did the bus thing was to get to the Hard Rock Cafe, as I collect things from everyone i manage to get to, but the only thing I saw that was nice down that way was the dunes, very nice, but the rest of it was just like uk with some sun shine.... I prefer to try and find the real culture, not just fish and chips and a pint etc..

Theres a fab restaurant called Tony Romas not far from the dock, its about 10 to 20 mins walking distance, food there is gorgeous as is the deserts! you get a good mix of food from burgers to pasta dishes, mexican etc! Just an idea if you find that the hard rock is just too far! Ali xxx
