Holiday Inn, Southampton - Cruise Crowd

A great pre-cruise hotel! We had a super stay. Prior to booking I rang the hotline and they gave me the prices. I then ASKED for the offers they had (not offered straight off) and we managed to get dinner thrown in for £1 each!!! Just happened to be an offer they were running.

I wanted a room with a view of the Navigator in the morning so we booked a superior room, high up, and what a treat. ...

Basically the RCI ships dock outside your window so for added excitement (unless unlike us you dont want to be up at 5am staring at a ship with glee!!) I suggest you ask specifically for a view of the RCI terminal.

The room was quite basic but had everything we needed - I'd have slept in a crate for the view we had. It was clean and well kept. The tv and shower worked etc.

The staff were very pleasant, and our tea lady was very chatty, asking us about our cruise.

We had a lovely dinner, four of us, a stroll to the terminal gates and a sit by the waters edge.

Breakfast was buffet style and hot.

The RCI terminal car park is literally 20 yards from the hotel. It couldn't be better placed for this line, but even if you are travelling with P&O or another line, its in a fab location.

We had a truly great stop over and would definitely stay there again. It was 2 years ago so I shant quote prices as they are probably out of date now. There was free parking overnight but we parked in the terminal for the cruise as we had free parking.

But if all is the same as it was when we stayed there, it was good value, excellent beyond compare location in as much as from the ship, and great even for walking in to town to do some last minute shopping.

A real gem
