We sailed away from Southampton in glorious sunshine..however that was the last we were to see of the sun for a few days !
Embarkation was slow...we were not allowed onboard until 3.30pm..the slowest emarkation time we`ve ever had. The cabin was better than I had expected. It was an unusual arrangement for a 4 berth..2 bunks offset..one at the bottom end of the cabin..the other at the top. It did however provide more room than had they been side by side. There was plenty storage space..an adequate bathroom with a good shower..and complimentary toiletries.
The food was plentiful and of a good quality although the midnight feast was a bit limited.
The artwork around the ship was very "modern" and didnt somehow fit in with the overall ambience.
The entertainment was good..a comedian and a magician and the Black Watch dance company.
We did our own thing at the ports. We had a relatively short time in Guernsey so ambled around..it was quite a windy day. In Cobh and Cork it rained all day. We visited the Titanic exhibition which was well worth it. You get reduced price entry if you show your cruise card. We also had a short visit to the cathedral. Its quite a hilly place so be prepared.
We got the train into Cork...takes 25mins..and trains run every half hour. We had no problems getting a seat but others who had gone earlier said the trains were jam packed full. Cork is good for shopping and I believe has a good market..we never got there !
Honfleur was my favourite port..the sun shone which made a big difference. Its very picturesque and just right for strolling around and sitting watching the world go by.Beware prices in cafes which were quite expensive.
We did have some choppy seas sailing from Guernsey to Cobh and were sufferers of seasickness..we didnt need the doctor but plenty did.
Its not ideal for children but my sons made friends quickly and enjoyed themselves throughout..especially the Easter egg hunt. The pool was virtually empty so the children had a great time in there.
We didnt use the gym (shame ! ) or the spa but entered the quizzes with other people we became friendly with.
All in all a very relaxing break..just wish it had been longer
And Yes..we would sail with good old Fred again !!
